Astral Legal have partnered with a Global Insurance company as they are a recruiting a Data Protection Lawyer/DPO to join their team. This Data Protection Lawyer/DPO will be responsible for for maturing their current Privacy programme and once it is matured there will be an element of general Legal work.

Please see below the duties:

  • Inform and advise the company and its employees about the obligations to comply with the GDPR and other data protection laws.
  • You will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and continuously build awareness on the importance of data ownership, accountability and responsibility.
  • Mature the current privacy programme, keeping it in line with current regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with the GDPR and other data protection laws, and with internal data protection polices, including managing internal data protection activities.
  • Production and delivery of awareness training.
  • Raising awareness of data protection issues, training staff and conducting internal audits and training within the business.
  • Monitoring and updating data processing contracts.
  • Creating new policies and procedures and accountability frameworks.
  • Advise on and monitor data protection impact assessments.
  • Handling Legal commercial contracts surrounding NDA's/ vendor contracts etc.


The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Lawyer and have a strong Privacy background. My client is open to PQE level but you must have matured Data Protection programmes. Candidates from Private Practice and In-House will be considered.
