Astral Legal have partnered with a global law firm as they are recruiting a Data Protection Lawyer to work in their General Counsels team reporting into the Head of Risk. The main focus of the Data Protection role will be to work closely with the firm and manage the firms data protection compliance, privacy and security programme. You will look after all cyber security risks, audits, managing subject access requests, reviewing and amending data protection clauses in contracts and supplier contracts.

The duties of the Data Protection Lawyer will be to assist the Director of Risk in developing the Data Protection programme, creating and maintaining data protection policies and procedures. Keeping up to date with developments in data protection law, policy and regulatory guidance and providing updates to the Director of Risk. You will be working with the IT Security teams to assess cyber and information security risks for the firm and developing appropriate awareness and training programmes.

Conducting data protection compliance assessments, working with the Risk manager in regards to breaches and the IC, you will be dealing with Data Subject Access Requests served on the firm. You will be reviewing data protection provisions in all the firm's contracts involving personal data processing.

The ideal candidate will be experienced with Data Protection from not just a Legal perspective but also from an operational Data Protection stand-point as this is a very hands on role.
